The Last Boyfriend Review

The Last Boyfriend (Forever Love, #1)The Last Boyfriend by J.S. Cooper
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lucky Morgan works at a local diner and goes to college. About a year ago her life changes forever. She experiences a tragedy and then her boyfriend dumps her and tells her she is the girl to go to for a fun time and their relationship wasn’t serious. Sure she dated a lot but she didn’t sleep around or anything. She decided that the next guy she dated was going to be her last boyfriend. She wasn’t going to date just to date anymore. So all she does know is work and go to school, she is a bit of a rut. For the last couple months Zane Beaumont has been coming in every Friday with a different girl. He is nice and he tips well but no matter how attracted she is to him she knows he is not the type of guy she is looking for. Then her friends convince her to come to a party after work one day. She doesn’t really want to go but she knows she needs to get back out there again, so she goes. Zane just happens to be there. Her friend tries to introduce her to some guy but another guy named Brayson steps in and saves her. Now there are two guys not interest her. Zane makes her feel like no one ever before and Brayson says all the right things. They are both warning her about the other, who should she really be worried about? Zane says he doesn’t do relationships and can’t give her what she deserves but does all the right things. Brayson says all the right things but Lucky just feels like something is off. She gives Zane the chance he asks for with a unconventional relationship but she is starting to have real emotional feeling for him and is getting tired of the Zane’s hot and cold mood swings. Who should she chance her heart with? Should she just forget about both of them? Zane has this whole mysterious thing going for him. Lucky knows underneath he is what she is looking for. I really liked this book and was pulling for Zane the whole time. He has his own things he is dealing with but he really cares for Lucky. I felt like Brayson was saying the things he though Lucky wanted to hear to keep her away from Zane. There was just something about him that didn’t fit for me. I felt bad for Lucky at times, she just wanted some answers from Zane but he was playing it super close to the vest. I can’t wait to read the sequel to this book, The Last Husband to find out what happens next. This book had lots of twists and turns and I was happy to get some answers at the end. Happy that Lucky got what she was hoping for. The story pulled me and had great characters. The story was well written and flowed nicely. J.S. Cooper is on my favorite author list.

Spring Fling: A Southern College Novella Review

Spring Fling: A Southern College NovellaSpring Fling: A Southern College Novella by Meda White
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was a great quick read. It was funny, romantic, and bit sad at times. Kellyn is on her last spring break with her best friend, Indi. Indi’s boyfriend Cobie backed out at the last minute but his best friend, Pace is there with them. Pace is a love em’ and leave em’ type. Kellyn is attracted to him but determined not to be just another notch on his belt. Then Indi starts acting weird and messing with Pace he tells her that he and Kellyn are seeing each other. Kellyn only agrees to help him to save his friend ship with his best friend and save her friend from herself. What Kellyn doesn’t realize at first is that Pace is truly attracted to her and wants to have a real relationship with her. They spend spring break having a pretend fling but by the end they both realize they want to try the real thing. However there is only 10 weeks left of school then they go onto their real adult life. They make up all these guidelines as to not get to close and wind up hurt. Will it work or will they fall in love anyway? This book is a bit funny. There is lots of banter and sarcasm. Then there is the fact that they are really falling in love with each other but both are afraid to get hurt. Pace has quite the reputation and Kellyn doesn’t want to be just another girl he has slept with. Pace wants to be a real boyfriend to her but he has never really done that before. It was fun reading all the things they went through and how they try to fight their feeling for each other. The part after they graduated was a bit sad, but the ending was good. I look forward to reading other books in this series and to reading other books by this author.

More than a Friend Request Review

More than a Friend RequestMore than a Friend Request by Julie Prestsater
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book was super romantic. Hannah and Adam dated in college during their senior year. Hannah roommate and Adam’s twin were dating and introduced them to each other. Adam wasn’t interested in being set up but that all changed what he first saw Hannah. Hannah was so nervous about meeting Adam. They had an easy relationship they just fell in love and there was never really any trying they just were. Then Adam broke up with Hannah to go to medical school. Now fifteen years later he sends her a friend request on FaceSpace. Hannah can’t believe it. It’s been so long why now? Should she except or not. In the end she does. That one choice changes the rest of her life. Adam is nervous, what is she declines her request. Her profile is private so he doesn’t know anything about her current going ons. Adam wants to try to get Hannah back. He regrets ever breaking up with her. He has always known she is the one for him but he couldn’t take the chance that maybe he wouldn’t be able to handle medical school and Hannah would see him fail. There is only one thing he doesn’t regret about the last 15 years and that is his son, Danny. Will Hannah and Adam get their second chance? Could this be the start of that second chance? I liked this story though for me it was a little hard to accept that she would take him back so easily. Although it has been fifteen years and she did have all the time to work through everything and come to terms with the fact that she still loved him and knew his was the one for him. I did love how easy they were with each other. There was never any nervousness really. They just were and that is how it should be. They have this incredible easiness about them. Danny was a great character. He has a great relationship with his dad and wants him to be happy. He accepted Hannah as if she was always a part of his life. The book was a great quick read. The story flowed great and the characters were great. I would like to read more about the characters especially his twin Aaron and Hannah’s friend. I look forward to reading more books by Julie in the future.

The Chronicles of Moxie Review

The Chronicles of MoxieThe Chronicles of Moxie by Z.B. Heller
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I loved this book so much. This book is funny, romantic, a bit crazy, and made me laugh so much. Moxie and her friends are fantastic and I wish they were real and I could hang out with them. Moxie is sarcastic, funny, real, and wonderful. I am very sarcastic myself and loved all the banter in the book. Poor Moxie has some of the worst luck and a horrible step mother doesn’t help matters much. Her step mother is always trying to set her up on dates. The men are never someone Moxie would pick for herself or even really be interested in. Her friends tell her she should stop going out with the guys her step mother suggests. Moxie is not the skinniest girl on the block but she is wonderful and a great person. She meets Miles Dane and throws up all over his shoes shortly after, only to learn that his son is her new student. Miles doesn’t seem to care about what happened the first time they meet and proceeds to flirt with her and act as if nothing happened. She is extremely attracted to him. They meet again at her gay best friend’s party where they begin to get acquainted and then he rushes off. Miles and Moxie don’t start off great start and Moxie is frustrated by him. He is everything she wants in a man and she thinks his son is great. But, she manages to let others get in the way. A fellow teacher at her school makes some remakes and her step mother is at it again. Moxie lets her insecurities get stimulated by others and lets it get in the way of what is happening with Miles. Will Moxie be able to get over her insecurities and try with Miles or will she lost him? Will Miles be able to show Moxie that he wants her in his and his son’s life? This is the first book I have read by Z.B. Heller. The story was fantastically written. The characters and the story pull you in. Moxie has great friends. I laughed so much during this book. I wanted to off Moxie’s step mom for her. Miles is a great man and just right for Moxie. He can roll with her sarcasm but knows when she needs more from him. Dillion is a great little boy and how could you not love him. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series. Z.B. Heller has become one of my favorite authors after reading this book. I look forward to reading other books by her in the future.

Grey Review

Grey (Fifty Shades, #4)Grey by E.L. James
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved the Fifty Shades of Grey series. To after reading all three books it was more a romance with BDSM thrown in than a mainly BDSM with romance thrown in. That being said I think I like this book more than the Fifty Shades of Grey. Christian is a wonderful deep character who to me was quickly dismissed as this man who needs control and wants to hurt Anastasia for sexual purposes. I loved reading what he was thinking compared to what he really said to her. I found him funny and sarcastic and loved it. I felt sad for him and what he went through as a child. To me he needs control to protect himself not to just have control of someone. I still hate Mrs. Robinson. But reading from his perspective how he thinks that she saved him from going down some deep dark path was interesting. I have always thought that it was Anastasia that changed him versus him trying to change her. He liked that she didn’t just fall in line and that she questioned him. I would love to read of all the books from his perspective. I know this book upsets people and frankly if I hadn’t read it before it would just make me want to read it because that is the type of person I am. I can’t say enough about how much I liked this book. I loved reading the quips he thinks and things like that. How much he realized he needed her versus how much he was willing to share those feeling with her. I think she saved him more than Mrs. Robinson ever could. At the same time I am kinda mad at Anastasia for leaving after she asked him to show her how bad it could hurt. Although I understand why she did and how the rest of the story turns out I wish she would have told him she needed time versus just leaving the next morning. This book just had a different feel to it even though it was really just the first book from Christian’s perspective. He broke all his own rules for her; he was doing something he had never done before. He really was out of his comfort zone with Anastasia. I wanted and felt so much for her that he was willing to do things he had never done before just to be able to spend time with her. Again I hope to read the other books in the series from his perspective. Please write them E.L. Grey.

In The Fairytale Review

In The Fairytale (In The Moments Series, #3)In The Fairytale by Joan Duszynski
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love the first two books in this series and loved this one just as much. Raleigh believes that one day she will find her prince. With her best friends, Caroline and Tara in love with their princes she finds herself a little sad at times. Then while going with Caroline for an addition to her tattoo she meets Buzz. She is drawn in by the tattoo he has on the inside of her forearm. He tells her he will tell her about it she lets him take her out. Raleigh has decided that she isn’t going back to finish college and is going to find a job and start her life. She is finally done healing physically from her accident and just wants to start her life. She doesn’t feel as great about her body as she used to. She has scares now and has quite become comfortable with their place on her body and worries about how people she her. There is just something about Buzz that draws Raleigh in. She goes by the shop to see if he would be interested in her designing tattoos for his clients. He is but he is also interested in more. There is some hit and miss in the beginning with them and communication. Once they get that worked out they quickly began something that is wonderful. Buzz is living with some of his own demons and trying to overcome them. They are helping each other do just that. Buzz lets Raleigh know that she is perfect just the way she is and he doesn’t care about her scars. Raleigh is helping Buzz overcome his own fears relating to his sister’s death. Will they be able to live happily ever after or will their fears stop them? This book was fantastic. Raleigh is a little crazy and sarcastic. She tends to fly off the handle without all the facts sometimes. Buzz is handsome, caring, and loving. He is afraid to love and lose again. He wants to try with Raleigh but will his fears stop him? I love that we got to read more about Caroline and Eric as well and Tara and Adam. I can’t wait to read the next book. I was so happy to finally read about Raleigh and her prince. Reading how they help each other and are there for each other was great. I love Joan and this book amazing. I can’t say enough but I don’t want to give away any teasers. I can’t say enough about this series overall, I will be impatiently waiting for the next book and what is has in store for these great characters.
