The End Game Release Blitz +Giveaway +Review

Title: The End Game
Author: Kate McCarthy
 Release Date: September 8, 2015

Blurb
“Professional athletes are pillars of their respective communities. They are heroes in the eyes of boys and girls and are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that positively represents their community.”
The public loves a good scandal. Seeing someone fall from the pinnacle of success makes a great headline. No one knows that better than I do. What started out as a promising career in college football, spiraled into scandal and shame.
But being a hero is easier said then done. Especially when there are those who expected to see the great Brody Madden fail. I craved nothing except being the best—willing to do anything to prove them wrong. But I went too far, and I tried too hard, and it broke me.
“At the time of going to print, Jordan Elliott was unavailable for comment.”
I met Brody Madden in my senior year of college. An Australian native on an international scholarship, I was the female soccer sensation with stars in her eyes and no room for a hotshot wide receiver with a chip on his shoulder.
But a heart bursting with ambition and a driving fire to succeed isn’t made of stone. I became his strength, his obsession, and the greatest love of his life. Only I wasn’t there when he needed me most.
This is a story about love and a game that takes everything. Where the path to glory is paved with sacrifice. Where pressure makes you, or breaks you, and triumph is born in the ashes of failure. Where two people’s end game will change everything.

Shutting the door, I walk up the slight incline behind Brody. He sits down at the top of the crest and pats the grassy spot beside him.

“You didn’t mention this part when you explained our date.”

“I can’t give away all my secrets now, can I?”

The grass is a thick blanket on the ground and when I stretch out flat, the rich, earthy scent of soil sweeps over me. My eyes lift to the sky and that’s when I get it. It’s perfectly clear and millions of stars are scattered diamonds twinkling above us—bright and magical.

“Besides,” Brody adds as he lies down beside me and sweeps out his arm, encompassing all of it. “How do you explain that?”

He’s right. You can’t. “It’s beautiful.”

“Is this what the stars are like for you back home?”

“No. Back home it’s different.”

“Different how?”

Homesickness swamps me. As beautiful as Texas is, it’s not Australia. Somehow the stars are always brighter where you belong. “Because there’s no place like home.”

“You’re wrong.”

I turn my head and stare at Brody. He’s not looking at me. His head is tilted toward the sky, eyes riveted on the beauty above him. My gaze follows the line of his profile. From the curl of his hair to the perfect line of his nose, down to the mouth I want kissing me right this very instant.

“Home’s not a place where you live. It’s a feeling.” His hand nudges my own. An invitation. I twine my fingers with his and he squeezes them lightly. “Whether it’s where you are, like the football field, or who you’re with.” Brody turns his head, looking at me when he says that. It’s comforting because it unites us somehow, like it’s slowly becoming us against the world. “You can be anywhere, Jordan. Home will follow you if you follow your heart.”

My breath hitches from the beautiful simplicity of his words. Before I can talk myself out of it, I roll over and straddle him. My knees hug his hips, and he stares up at me from my seated position. My pulse pounds a heavy beat in the silence. Thump, thump, thump. It’s so loud in my ears I’m sure he can hear it.

“Show me,” I breathe. A gleam lights his dark eyes, and he sucks his lower lip inside his mouth. He knows what I’m asking, but I spell it out anyway. “Show me one of those wicked things.”

In a move that steals the air from my lungs, he takes both my hands and pulls me down against the broad width of his chest. I’m rolled over and underneath him before I can blink. The squirm in my hips is instinctive, the ache between my thighs relentless.

“Careful what you ask for,” Brody says roughly, every exquisite inch of his body pressing down on mine.

“Why?”

His lips curve. “Because when I give it to you, it won’t be enough.”

My fingers trail down the side of his face, grazing the firm jaw, cupping his cheek in my palm. Foreboding swamps me. I’m falling hard into uncharted territory, and all I see is a broken mess at the end. How is this going to end well for either of us?

“You’re an arrogant man, Brody Madden,” I whisper.

He brings his face to mine, so close I see the brilliant gold in his eyes, like flecks of light in the dark. “And you, Jordan Elliott, will be the woman who brings me to my knees,” he whispers against my lips.

“Show me,” I beg on a shaky breath.

Brody’s lashes lower and he presses a kiss to the corner of my mouth. I tilt my chin upwards, inviting more. Rather than take my lips like I ache for him to do, he shifts sideways and begins nipping at my jaw. His breath is a rasp when he reaches my earlobe, taking it between his teeth. A sharp pinch from his bite forces a whimper from my throat.

“More?” he asks, drawing back to look at me.

“Is that even a real question?”

Brody chuckles as I slide my hand up and around his nape, dragging his mouth down to mine. He groans and kisses me gently, once, and then twice.

“Brody,” I whisper, and he kisses me again, forcing my mouth open hard like he can’t hold himself in check anymore. My hair is loose and he fists chunks of it in both hands while his tongue rubs against mine, hot and aggressive. It’s almost too much, and when I jerk away I’m left gasping.

Brody doesn’t pause. He ducks his head to my neck, his tongue tasting its way down. He finds my pulse point and sucks. It’s fierce and my back arches involuntarily. His mouth shifts further down, moving on before he leaves a mark.

Sitting up, he takes the neckline of my dress in both hands. Five dainty buttons hold it together. A single wrench will rip the flimsy fabric in two. He pauses and looks at me, inhaling raggedly. “Jordan … I don’t want to ruin it.”

My brow furrows. I glance to the hands poised on my dress. They’re tense, veins straining under his skin. My head is lost in a fog when my gaze returns to his face. “Ruin my dress?”

Brody groans, a deep sound of regret and frustration. “Us.”

“You don’t want to ruin us?”

He draws his hands away from the neckline of my dress. “No.”

“How would you do that?”

“I don’t know. I just get this feeling I’m going to.” He shifts away, moving off me and rolling to his back. I turn my head. Brody’s gaze is back on the stars. I watch his throat work as he swallows, the pulse in his neck pounding visibly. “All I’ve ever wanted is to be the best. Whatever it takes. I’ll do anything. That’s how I’ll ruin us, Jordan. How can something so sweet survive a sentiment so dark?”

I roll to my side, holding my head in my hand. Cupping his face with the other, I nudge gently until he’s looking at me. “I won’t let you.”

Brody’s voice is urgent, his eyes fierce. “Promise me.”

I can’t shake the apprehension. It’s set in my bones and when I speak it feels like a lie. “I promise.”

My Review
This book was a great read.  It was heart wrenching at times.  I will admit that at first I thought it was just going to be another sports romance.  But I quickly realized it was a lot more.  This book focused on how much pressure is put on athletes to be the best.  Brody Madden has been put down by his father his whole life.  His father is constantly telling him how much of a disappointment he is and how stupid he is.  Brody wants nothing more than to prove him wrong.  Football is all he has and he is determined to be the best at it.  It is the most important thing in his life, really the only thing in his life.  Jordan Elliott has come to America on an international soccer scholarship.  Her parents died a few years ago and all she has left is her twin brother, Nicky.  Nicky has worked his bum off to support Jordan and himself.  He is proud of Jordan for getting the scholarship.  Jordan can’t believe the opportunity she has been given with this scholarship.  She is totally focused on school work and soccer.  She wants a future as a pro soccer player.  Her ethics professor is Brody’s uncle and has asked her to tutor him.  Brody has a secret he doesn’t want to get out.  It has plagued him his whole life and could destroy his future.  At first Brody is totally opposed to being tutored but then he sees that Jordan will be his tutor and figures if he gets to spend time with her it can’t be all that bad.  Jordan is determined to not let Brody under her skin but she is losing the battle.  Brody is falling hard for Jordan she sees him like no one else.  She supports him and doesn’t try to change who he is, she accepts him and all his flaws.  Will Brody be able to get Jordan to give him a chance?  Will Brody’s demons haunt him forever?
This book was fantastic.  Very emotional.  Everyone expects guys to have it all together and to not break under the pressure.  They aren’t allowed to show that they are hurt, frustrated, or mad at their faults or disabilities.  That is slowly changing and I love that this book focuses on that with Brody.  I felt so bad for him.  I wanted to jump in the book and beat his dad.  The way his father treats him is horrible.  The love that Jordan and Brody share is amazing to read.  I can’t say enough about this book or the characters.  I was completely drawn into the book.  The characters are wonderful and have depth and so much personality to them.  Fantastic job Kate McCarthy.  This is the first book I have read by her and I look forward to reading other books by her in the future.

Excerpt
Dane could only stare at the front of the room and the woman who’d walked in behind the colonel. He wanted to blink and make the apparition go away, but it didn’t work that way. Ivy was no apparition. She was a flesh and blood woman with long dark hair and curves he’d once worshipped with his mouth and hands. Curves he’d been unable to get enough of at one time. He remembered hot, dark, sweaty nights between the sheets with her. He remembered thinking she was the center of his universe, and then he remembered the pain that had sliced through him when he’d found out he wasn’t the center of hers. She stared back at him coolly—and then she looked away. He stiffened, but only for a moment. Fuck her.

Ere's Secret Book Tour +Giveaway +Review

Ere's Secret by Firi Kamson
Genre: Women's Fiction, Contemporary Romance

I have a secret.
In three days, I'll be turning 40 and I'm in love for the first time. Decades ago, I sacrificed my life for the good of my family. But tragedy struck too close to home, reminding me of the brevity of life.

Now I have a choice to make: continue living in shadows or allow my true self to emerge.

My Review
This books was a good fast read.  Ere's is writing in her diary and you read it as if you are the diary or reading her diary.  The book takes place over three days; the three days leading up to her 40th birthday.  You learn a lot about her life and everything she has been through.  She has a secret that she is going to reveal to her family and friends on her birthday.  You read about how she has come to the decision she has in her diary.  Ere was born and raised in Nigeria.  It was interesting to read how different the culture is and how different everything was.  This book was well written.  This is the first book I have read by Firi Kamson.  I look forward to reading other books by Firi in the future.

My life was uninteresting and would have stayed that way until I met Luke. This was a chance meeting and I could say we were destined to meet, who knows. It was a Sunday evening and I was at this point tired of my life and living my life as society wanted it to be lived. It was the day I defied all odds and subdued my nerves as I went into my closet and put on a black pair of pencil jeans and a black loose fitting Tee-shirt, that Cassandra, my oyibo Canadian neighbor who never took no for an answer, even though she had been unsuccessfully trying to invite me for coffee at hers for years; gave me. Surprisingly, when I put this on, it struck me how much weight I had lost. I looked like a skinny school girl instead of a 38 year old mother of three. Ignoring the inquiring looks my boys gave me, I told them I was going out with my friends. Further ignoring the equally curious look I got from Musa, our old reliable gateman who refused to leave us when Opuada died and was content with whatever I could pay him. With a straight face, I told him I was going out and would be back in a couple of hours.

Firi Kamson was born in Nigeria, where she grew up. Becoming a lawyer, a writer and a pilot was her childhood dream, she dropped the lawyer part and got a B.A. in foreign languages and literature speciality French. Worked as a freelance translator and a photographer for a couple of years before she decided to explore the creative world of writing. She writes a column for www.sabinews.com, as Tee, an online Nigerian based magazine, where she journals her experiences in south east Asia. The dream of becoming a pilot is still there and who knows one day it would be fulfilled. She lives in South East Asia with her nerdy husband and very active daughter and son. Ere's Secret is her first work.

Then again, I don’t know much about people

The question is, can he trust me?

Brannon

The question is, will she survive them?

**Recommended for 18+ due to sexual content and language

Releasing Fall 2015

“It doesn’t matter the reasons, Brannon. You want me to give you my trust, well, it goes both ways. You’ll just have to trust me when I say that I have boundaries and if you can’t be comfortable with them, then we can’t have anything at all.”
Oh, hell to the motherfucking no.
“Baby, you threw that option out the window when you showed up on my doorstep. I’m not letting you go, no more dancing around this. You’re mine. End of.”
Hayleigh’s eyes widen at my little speech, but then they narrow menacingly, her brows dropping deep over her frosty gaze. She opens her mouth to speak, but I keep her silent with a finger on her lips. I trail the finger down her silky cheek and then lower until I reach a nipple, then draw a circle around it. I can vaguely see it hardening through her shirt and when I brush across it, she gasps. I lean forward and place my lips on the shell of her ear. “You’re body agrees with me. I bet if I slipped my finger into your pussy, I’d find you drenched for me.”
I take the hand I’m holding and place it over my rock hard cock, then shift it up and splay her hand on my pounding heart, “And, I’m yours.”
Once again, I shut her down when she tries to talk, “No, baby.” I growl. Her eyes get big again at the rare gruff sound coming from me. “We’ve done this your way for four years. We are going to do it my way now. You don’t have to tell me everything right now. Eventually, you’ll trust me enough to share it all with me. For now, you’re going to put your big girl panties on,” I immediately push away the images of lacy shit that pop into my mind, and rush on before she blisters me with the fury in her eyes, “and give us a chance.”
“Let’s be clear about one thing,” I continue, “I decide what is best for me, what my heart can handle, whether I want to take a chance on us. That is my choice. So, get rid of any ideas you have about wanting to spare me the hurt, or thinking you know what I want, these are not your decisions to make. These are just excuses for you to hide behind and I’m not going to allow it. If you walk away, you’ll have to own it. Do you understand?”

Loving Ean (The Fae Guard #2)

I’m a lover of all things books, a hopeless romantic, and have always had a passion for writing. Between being a sappy romantic, my love of an HEA, my crazy imagination, and ok, let’s be real, my dirty mind, I fell easily into writing romance.
I’m a huge baseball fan and yet, a complete girly, girl. I’m an obsessive reader and have a slight (hahaha! Slight? Yeah, right) addiction to signed books.
I’m married to my very own book boyfriend, an alpha male with a sexy, sweet side. He is the best inspiration, my biggest supporter and the love of my life. He is also incredibly patient and understanding about the fact that he has to fight the voices in my head for my attention.
I hope you enjoy reading my books as much as I enjoyed writing them!
