EXCERPT
“Can I talk to you for a second, Hope?” I ask her between tight teeth. There is no fucking way another man is taking my woman out on a date.
“Sure,” she chirps and begins to walk in front of me.
My eyes eat her up, watching her plump ass shake under that dress. Jesus, is she wearing anything under it? Her heels click against the hardwood floors and she opens her bedroom door to invite me in.
Bullseye gives me a curious glance but doesn’t think much of it when I keep the door open.
“Can this be quick?” Hope asks, staring at her phone. “Benji will be here any minute.”
I rub a hand over my mouth and take a deep breath. “What the hell are you doing? You can’t go out with… Benji.” I nearly spit his name as I say it. I don’t like the guy. I used to, but not anymore.
“Why not? He’s around my age. He is kind. He is interested in Faith—”
“—He asked about her?” I grind my teeth together at his audacity. “She is m—” I almost say ‘she’s my little girl’, but I catch myself. I’m so messed up in the head. I don’t know when I started thinking that. I’ve barely spent any time with her. “Why are you doing this to me?” I whisper, realizing how selfish I sound.
“Doing this to you? I’m not doing anything to you, Forrest. I told you I wasn’t going to wait around. You said you didn’t want me. You pushed me away.”
“He isn’t allowed to have you,” I growl, taking a step forward, readying myself to rip that dress off her and show her who she really belongs to.
Hope shoves me in the chest and points her finger at me. “You arrogant bastard. You don’t want me but no one else can have me? Fuck you, Forrest. You had your chance and guess what?”
“Hope! Benji is here!” Bullseye calls out from the kitchen.
Hope lowers her voice and shoves me again. “And you aren’t going to have another one. You’re going to watch me walk out of here looking fucking amazing and you’re going to wish you weren’t being a coward.” She thrusts her shoulders back and clutches her black billfold against her chest.
Hope goes to walk around and I wrap my hand around her to stop her, tugging her against me. I don’t give her time to think. I clutch the back of her neck with my hand and yank her to me, pressing my lips against hers.
My soul is righted as soon as our lips meet. All the pain disappears; all the burdens I’ve made myself carry melt away. I want to admit everything I am to her. No other man can have these lips of hers. No other man can make her gasp and clutch onto them like I can.
Maybe I am an arrogant man. I never considered myself one.
But I am when it comes to her.
No one else can have my slice of heaven, not when I’m finally accepting her light.
She rips her lips from mine and before I can blink, her palm meets my cheek. “How fucking dare you,” she hisses. “You kiss me before I meet with another man, why?”
I wrap my hand around her throat and shove her against the wall, pressing my body against hers. My cock is pressed against her thigh and her swollen lips part, her lipstick smeared and all fucked up from our kiss.
Good.
“So when you’re with him, all you can think about, all you can taste, is me.”
“You are out of your damn mind if you think I’m going to be thinking about you at all.”
“Hope!” Bullseye calls out again, and I take a step back.
“Yeah, better get away from me,” she sneers. “Or you’ll have to deal with Daddy.”
My heart plummets. I screwed up.
“You better hope you got everything you wanted out of that kiss because that’s the last time you ever touch me.” She cleans the outline of her lips with her thumb, fixing the evidence of our kiss. “God, you’re unbelievable,” she scoffs.

I stroll past Cas, knowing those ambers are chasing me, feeling their warmth race across my skin.
“What are you doing here?” he grates out, gritting his teeth so hard I can hear them as I take a seat on the desk, swinging my legs.
“You’re angry. That rage is mine.”
His brows slam down as hatred curls his lips. I don’t expect him to understand.

The only way I can explain it is the fury that drives him is because of me. Belongs to me. If anyone should be getting it, then it’s me. Okay, I know it sounds fucked up, but I’ve never pretended I wasn’t.
“What the hell?” He starts pacing, running his hands through his hair, and itching his head with his piece before realizing it’s still in his hands and putting it away.
“We can give each other what we want.”
He pins me with his eyes, the amber color gleaming like Hell’s fire, so pretty. I’m envious. I want to feel that warmth across my skin. To burn in the fire, in that blistering inferno.
“That was a fucking mistake.”
“Every time since the club burnt down was a mistake. That’s a lot of mistakes, Cas.”
“You’re the daughter of the man who killed my father. I can’t even stomach looking at you,” he hisses. The venom breaking free shakes his body, edging closer to the surface as if I’m its master, and it recognizes I’m close.
“I can give you what you crave.” I jump down from the desk as his head snaps towards me. “I can handle it, you.”
A snarl erupts from the back of his throat as he strides across the room until he’s in front of me, his chest heaving, breathing hard. Staring into my eyes, he lets me see it all, the want mixing with the hatred.
A tiny, small part of me knows I shouldn’t want him either. But I’m drawn to Cas. He calls me like a siren enticing sailors to crash on the rocks. I crave the minutes until he pins me with those ambers, the moments he lets that fury cover me, sending heat across my skin.
“I hate you,” he sneers against my lips.
“I know,” I gasp against his mouth, and without warning, he crashes his lips on mine.
There’s no way Cas can hide the depth of his despise for me. It survives too near to the surface; so close that it stretches out and strokes my skin with each harsh stare.

I headed around the side of the hedge and dipped under into a small hollowed-out spot that Niccola and Vinni had made to hide in when they were boys. Twinkle lights were woven through the branches and provided a soft glow, but you were completely hidden from view. As soon as she was close enough, I reached out and pulled her through the soft branches.
“Oh, my goodness!” She yelped but sagged into my arms and let me nuzzle her neck. “My heart nearly leapt out of my chest, Elio.”
“You’re not playing fair, Sienna,” I growled, running a hand down her side. “I can’t tell the world you’re mine, yet you wear something like this,” I fisted the fabric near her hip, “and I’m expected to behave?”
“Never behave with me, Elio.” She tilted her head and kissed my jaw line.
“Sienna,” I warned and moved the fabric out of the way to stroke across her silky skin, “your company will be arriving—”
“You never did finish what you started in the closet at the last party.” She ground her backside into the painful erection that had suddenly developed, and my eyes rolled to the back of my head.
I stroked the back of my hand down her shoulder and pressed my lips to the nape of her neck, sucking ever so softly. Lapping, I drank in the fresh scent of her shampoo and resisted the urge to sink my teeth into her delicate skin.
“Mm,” I moaned from the bottom of my chest, “ten years I dreamed of this.”
“We have a lot of time to make up for.”
“We do,” I whispered, sending my hot breath over her sensitive shoulder, and watched with fascination as goosebumps burst down her arm.
With both hands moving quickly to her hips, I whirled her around, holding her chin as I sucked in a sharp breath, trying to control my animal instincts. The desire to feed on this woman positively consumed me.
My gaze plummeted to her chest that heaved and strained against the fabric of her dress.
“Seeing all those men around you—”
“But yet, here I am, with you.” She freed the button on my pants and stoked my erection while I groaned with a curse. “Offering my body to you.”
She barely had time to think before I had her panties moved aside. Careful of her dress, I pushed inside her. I hooked her leg over my hip and covered her mouth to muffle her gasps. I stared into her gorgeous eyes as they clouded over with need.
“This is mine, Sienna,” I dragged my gaze down her gorgeous body. “I don’t like them looking at what’s mine.” I watched as her pupils dilated. She always loved it when I became possessive of her. It made her feel wanted and loved.
“Elio,” she huffed as my hand brushed her lips.
“Shh,” I warned, knowing that if we outed ourselves now, we would have lost our only leverage with Mariano. “You’re here with me, like a gift from God, and I hate that no one knows it,” I whispered, leaning back to better balance us and to make sure our shoes wouldn’t scuff the gravel.
I lost all sounds while I pulsed myself in and out of the woman I loved, each stroke bringing us closer and closer to the edge. Though nothing mattered while I was inside that woman, I did keep one ear open for visitors. Our eyes locked again, and I saw her desperate need for release. I lowered my guard and gave her everything. She was the only one who could ever love and destroy me at the same time.
