Mackenzie Delano craves control. After tragedy strikes during her freshman year of college, she compensates for the helplessness she felt by micro-managing every aspect of her life, from her business life to her social life…to her love life. But she wasn’t expecting to cross paths with a mysterious man who seems to invade her every thought. Tyler Burnham has been living his life with one rule in mind…never fall in love. Focusing solely on his career, he is able to remain a detached observer of life… Until a case is dropped in his lap, forcing him to form an intimate relationship with a sharp-tongued woman in order to obtain the location of a man deemed an enemy of the State. When Tyler finds himself falling for Mackenzie, will he be able push his feelings aside and recover the information he needs? Or will he put the mission and their lives at risk to follow his heart? Chasing The Dragon is the first installment of a two part series of deception and betrayal where nothing is as it seems. ***Note - Chasing The Dragon is the first book in a two-book duet and is a spin-off of T.K. “Dance with me, Mackenzie,” he said, holding my hand in his, sensually placing the other just below my hip bone. “What are you−” “Shhh…,” he admonished, expertly leading me in our dance, the band playing Cole Porter’s Every Time We Say Goodbye. “Just enjoy it and don’t think.” I simply nodded, turning my head to scan the restaurant. “Mackenzie, eyes on me. I need to know you’re with me.” I snapped my eyes back to his, my mouth slightly agape as my heart pounded in my chest. He was warm and spellbinding. The way he held me in his arms comforted me and made me feel as if they were made to hold me. “Are you with me?” he asked, raising his eyebrows. “Yes,” I said, my voice soft. He leaned toward me and the bit of stubble on his chin brushed my skin. “Yes what?” he whispered. “I’m with you.” The corners of his lips turned up slightly and there was a spark about him that wasn’t present yesterday. “I like the sound of that, Miss Delano.” He pulled me closer and I tilted my head to peer into his striking eyes, needing the connection I felt at that moment. It was unlike anything I had ever experienced, all because of a well-placed hand, a sinfully sexy voice, eyes that made me want to melt, and arms that felt like home. “Who would have thought that the Mackenzie whose lips I couldn’t stop seeing in my dreams last night would turn out to be Mackenzie Delano, proprietor of South Padre’s hottest new spot?” “How did−” “Shhh,” he said once more. “You think too much. Just enjoy the moment because it’s over once the band plays the final note to this melody.” I snapped my mouth shut, a strange awareness of loss washing over me at the prospect of this complete stranger walking away from me once the song came to an end, wondering if I would ever see him again. “You’re a lovely dancer, Miss Delano,” he commented. “Thank you,” I answered, unsure of whether to say anything further. He seemed to be in complete control of the dance, of his words…and of mine. And, for the first time, I was okay with someone else calling the shots. “You have a dancer’s body. I’m confident you’ve bewitched quite a few men with the way you can seamlessly navigate the dance floor.” He leaned toward me and whispered, “I must confess… You’ve bewitched me.” His voice was sweet as it crooned in my ear, and I was left a silent, blubbering mute, the sincerity in his declaration sparking a renewed sense of longing I had ignored for years. My breathing grew ragged, and I was unable to formulate any response. I simply lost myself in the moment of our dance, wanting his sensual words to ring in the recesses of my mind for all eternity. I wished I could have recorded his voice murmuring those endearing words to me so I could replay them over and over again when I needed to feel something I didn’t think I would ever feel again. He molded my frame to his, our bodies swaying to the classic tune, and began to sing along with the band. I imagined he was singing to me, and me alone. His voice was deep and guttural, but sweet as he leaned toward my neck and crooned the last verse into my ear. I closed my eyes, losing myself in his warmth, his voice, his everything. All too soon, the final note rang out, silence encompassing the room, but we continued to sway to the music in our heads, our rhythm perfectly in tune to each other. A loud drum kick echoed, startling me, and I opened my eyes, almost expecting it all to be a dream. But it wasn’t, and I was met with my mysterious stranger’s strong face. Time stood still as we simply stared at each other, neither one of us moving. I licked my dry lips, nerves causing my breathing to grow more intense and labored. He grabbed my hand and brought it to his soft lips, placing a kiss on it. The contact caused a rush of adrenaline to run through me. Before I could ask his name, he was gone, leaving me stunned and alone once more.

T.K. Leigh, otherwise known as Tracy Leigh Kellam, is the USA Today Best Selling author of the Beautiful Mess series. Originally from New England, she now resides in sunny Southern California with her husband, dog and three cats, all of which she has rescued (including the husband). She always had a knack for writing, but mostly in the legal field. It wasn't until recently that she decided to try her hand at creative writing and is now addicted to creating different characters and new and unique story lines in the Contemporary Romantic Suspense genre.
When she's not planted in front of her computer, writing away, she can be found running and training for her next marathon (of which she has run over fifteen fulls and far too many halfs to recall). Unlike Olivia, the main character in her Beautiful Mess series, she has yet to qualify for the Boston Marathon.

This book was amazing.  The main characters Mackenzie and Tyler are fantastic.  This book has mystery, love, romance, danger, and hot men.  They both have been through some tough things.  They have closed themselves of to the possibility of love.  Tyler works with his brother at their security firm.  They have taken a case and Mackenzie becomes an asset.  Tyler figured he could get her to trust him and tell him things.  The easiest way to do that would be to date her.  He never expected to fall in love with her.  Now he needs to decide what to do.  Does he put her safety above everything else or does he do what he originally set out to do and just get the info?  Mackenzie had to move in the middle of night when she was a little girl.  She had to have a new name and a new life.  She didn’t understand why though, now all these later she still goes by that new name and has made a life for herself.  She still doesn’t know why she had to go into hiding and get a new name.  She has been burned before her first year in college.  She dated Charlie and found out the only reason he was dating her was to get info on her dad.  She closed herself off after that.  She vowed to never let someone in so that she wouldn’t have to worry about getting hurt again.  Here comes Tyler and he manages to get under her skin no matter how hard she tries to fight it.  Her friends encourage her to give it a try.  She is never go to find love if she doesn’t give it a chance.  She falls fast and hard for Tyler.  But, in the back of her mind there is always that little voice saying it’s so perfect, to right, it could all be a lie.  Is that little voice right?  This book ends in a soft cliff hanger.  I loved all the characters in this book.  I have not read her other series but I have it.  It has been moved up my list after reading this book.  This story just pulls you in and makes you want to keep reading.  I was pulling so hard for Mackenzie.  She has been through so much and deserves a happily ever after.  Tyler loves her so much but can’t change the original reason he approached her.  Can he make her see that he really loves her and it’s not all a lie just to get info about her dad?  I can’t wait to read the second book in this series.  I think I found a new author to add to my favorites list.

Some go through their whole lives looking for their other half…some are pieces of three.
Of all the different shifter species in the Okeanos Archipelago, none is more feared than the Lykans, the wolf shifters, diseased, destructive thieves who had been ostracized decades ago. In fact, history shows that no human has ever survived mating with a Lykan.
As liaison between the humans and the shifters for Anthros Island, all Alyssa Wilkinson wants is to become an Ambassador and explore the archipelago to study the species she'd been fascinated with her whole life. She only needs to gain her confidence and overcome her fear of water.
With disease ravaging their females, Lykan shifters, Julian Chalis and Porter Galen have come to Anthros searching for a cure. Captured, their only hope is found in a tiny human with large principles.
When the three of them are shipwrecked on an isolated island after a storm, Julian and Porter find themselves in the middle of the Lykan lunar mating cycle. Both wanting Alyssa, they give into their desires and choose to share her, never realizing they could be risking her life.
However, when Alyssa falls ill, Julian and Porter must return to Anthros, the island of the enemy, to save the one they love.
Pieces of Three is a completed 50,000-word paranormal ménage romance (MFM).

She bit her lip. The boat tilted at an extreme angle, knocking her off the cot. She landed hard on her shoulder, sharp pain shooting through her back. "Ah!" Before she had the chance to make another move, something grabbed her and dragged her across the floor. "Come here." Julian lifted her by her shirt, pulling her up and putting her in between the two of them. "Leave me alone." She rubbed her shoulder. Julian moved her hand and did the job for her. "You said you wanted to help, what do you mean?" She turned to him. Though he still appeared a wan and weak, everything about Julian spoke of being naughty. From the way his shoulder length black hair was a bit messy, to how only one side of his mouth was turned up, but his whole face lit up with a smile, to how his green eyes seemed to take everything in, including her, it was as if he recently was caught doing something bad, but no one would ever have the heart or the guts to punish him. "Are you really pirates?" she asked. "Well, Porter did steal your hair things." The other side of Julian's mouth lifted. "I have bandages for your wrist." She tensed, preparing for him lash out. "You brought bandages?" He continued to massage her shoulder. She nodded. "By any chance you didn't bring any water did you?" Porter tapped her. Against her better judgment and spun around to him causing her hair to hit her in her face. While Julian might be mischief and mayhem, Porter was precise and polished, with shorter brown hair combed back, razor sculpted facial features and golden eyes that either made one either want to cower, or embrace him tell him everything was going to be all right. "Are you going to tell me what's really wrong with your island?" "Are you going to tell us what else is in your bag?" He tilted his head. "Are you going to kill me?" No sooner were the words out of her mouth than the boat slammed down again, and she covered her eyes. Two sets of hands took hold of her, one on either side. "No matter what, she is trying to help," Julian said. "We are not going to kill her. In fact, since she called to us for help, we are going to do just that." She peeked through her fingers at Porter. "We can't kill her if we're going to protect her from the big, bad storm." He exhaled as if he had come to terms with having an unwanted pet. "I brought a few other things as well." She upped the ante. Did she make allies with the enemy? No doubt her actions qualified as relations with Lykans, even if it wasn't mating. "I hope not another shot." Porter's eyes darkened to a deep brown. "I don't believe in chemical inhibition." She chewed her lower lip. "Did you hear that Porter? I told you humans weren't all monsters." Julian chuckled. Funny, that's what humans thought about Lykans. "Actually, I brought the antidote." She glanced between them. "Maybe I'm the pirate, since I actually stole the antidote." At her confession she stood. The ship heaved to one side, sending her back onto the cot and right onto Porter. He caught her. "Well, that was a bit unexpected." "That was bad." Her whole body shook. "Something is wrong." She waited for one of them to tell her everything would be fine. Julian slid closer to her and held out his hand. "It's part of the deal." "What deal?" Without thinking she placed her hand in his. "The one you made with the two devils." Julian gave her hand a squeeze. "You brought us the antidote." Porter tightened his hold on her. "In turn, you may hold our hands, lay on us, and we will keep you safe. If this cheap excuse for a ship falls apart, we'll just dog paddle to shore, there are more than sixty islands in the archipelago." She stared straight ahead. "You may paddle, but I can't swim." The boat tilted back and crashed down. Her suitcase fell over and tumbled in front of them. She took them up on their offer and hid her face in Porter's chest. "What happened to smooth sailing?" "Port." Julian rubbed her back. "She can't swim." Porter's words vibrated through her. "Do we have a deal?" Smooth sailing was nowhere in sight. The boat continued its turbulent trek. She nodded. "Yes."

My Review

Paranormal books are my favorite genre and Kim did not disappoint with this book.  This book has romance, danger, shifters of all different kinds, and more.  Alyssa wants to be an Ambassador between the humans on Anthros and the shifters on their respective islands.  She has always wanted more out of life.  She makes snap decisions waiting to see what happens because of her decisions.  Julian and Porter are Lykans.  Their race is in trouble.  Their females continue to get sick and they can’t figure out why or how to cure it.  Julian acts like he is the alpha and Porter doesn’t want to be told what to do.  They have always been at odds with each other.  The humans believe that contact between them and the Lykans will lead to the death of their females are well.  So they refuse to deal with them at all.  They have outlawed any contact with them.  Julian and Porter come to Anthros hoping to blend in and maybe get a cure.  They are quickly discovered and brought in.  They request to see an ambassador and this is how they meet Alyssa.  She doesn’t like the way they are treated and the methods the humans use.  She helps them with they are be transferred finds herself attracted to both Julian and Porter.  Julian and Porter are attracted to her as well.  Alyssa is scared of their wolf forms at first but quickly realizes they would do anything for her and never hurt her.  Julian and Porter could never have imagined they would find their mate by going to Anthros.  Now they need to protect and find a way to protect their race.  I loved this book.  It was very well written and characters pull you right in.  Alyssa grows and becomes so much more confident thanks to Julian and Porter.  Julian and Porter have to learn that they are best when they are all three together, that not just either of them was meant for her but both of them.  I loved all the different types of shifters.  The whole story was fantastic.  I love Kim.

My Reveiw

This book was very well written as far as the story and the characters.  However for me it was too slow.  I just couldn’t seem to get into to it.  The story is about a girl named Kayla whose brother committed suicide and she decides to go on a trip to Thailand to avoid dealing with her brother’s death.  While on the trip she falls for a boy named Sam who is in the same group as her.  Then Sam disappears, they don’t know if he left on his own or if he was taken.  There may be some drug involvement.  The book begins with Kayla coming home after Sam’s disappearance. Then continues alternating between what Kayla is currently going through with the death of her brother and Sam’s disappearance and when she first arrived in Thailand.  For me it was frustrating and not that easy to get into either of the stories.  It was almost like two books in one.  I don’t mind a flash back or two but for me the constant alternating stopping me from getting into the book.  The end really surprised me and was great.  I never would have guessed who was behind everything in a million years.  I would try another book by Laura to see if this was her writing style overall or just for this book.  The book was not bad and neither was the story or characters.  I just didn’t like the constant back and forth in the story.  I did feel for Kayla and what was happening to her during the book.  Sam and the others were great also.  Sam and Kayla had a bunch of almosts and obviously have feeling for each other.  The characters were great and made you feel for them.  Again I think I would have enjoyed the book more if it was written differently.  I liked the story line just not the back and forth.
