This is the third book in this series. I have read the first but not the second and wasn’t lost or confused. They can be read as standalone books. They are better read in order though. Cowboy finds himself stuck between his present and his past. He has met a lady that he is interested in but then his past love comes rushing back into the picture. Turns out his family farm is in danger of being foreclosed on if he doesn’t help get in back on track. He must save the family farm and fast his past at the same time. Then he learns that the lady he is interested in has a son. He doesn’t have a problem with kids in general he just doesn’t want to be close to any himself. Can the boy grow on him? With what he feels for the boy’s mom be enough to risk getting close to the boy? This book has action, romance, danger, and has the feels as well. Cowboy went through something that makes him never want to be responsible for a child. But, maybe just maybe what he needs is to have that and find love again as well. Lizzybeth was attracted to Cowboy right away but her life is complicated and she has responsibilities that don’t lend to her having a romantic life. She is wary of men in general but could Cowboy be different? I loved this book and look forward to reading more in the series. It also connects to Sheila’s H.I.S. Series. Fantastic job Sheila.

First Chapter - Zennor Now

I used to love the feel of the sand on my feet—the gritty and coarse grains of packed, damp sand or the soft sugary flecks in the warmer, dry parts of the beach. No matter how hard you tried, you couldn’t keep the specks from covering you.

There is no place like Cornwall, and once upon a time, it didn’t matter that I grew up here. I still thought it was the centre of the world.

And it was, for a time.

Clear blue sea to rival the Mediterranean meets bright cornflower skies. The rock cliffs are lush with green and wildflowers—a patchwork of spring—even the grey stone of the cliffs looks warm.

But the weather is fickle, and summer can feel like the depths of winter. And in winter, it’s bitter, as all the colour is sucked from the countryside. The sea turns wild and scary, and the inviting waters are long forgotten.

You have to be hardy to weather a Cornish winter. And when I was feeling low, it was the thing I wished to escape the most.

This is the second book in the series. I recommend reading them in order. Blackjack enjoys gambling and he is good at it. That is how he meets Elyse. Elyse finds herself in an unbearable situation that isn’t even her fault. Her father left them and now she is on the hook for his debt with the guy he borrowed money from. She could never come up with the money she is asking for. Elyse finds herself even deeper when she finds herself pregnant. Now she must go to the man who she robbed and ask for help. Mayhem doesn’t believe her at first but when she shows up a second time in worse condition, he must decide what to do. Sure, she robbed him but maybe once he knows why he will change his mind. After all he hasn’t stopped thinking about her since that night. How will Blackjack handle seeing his brothers possible show interest in her? Blackjack is torn between being attracted to her and what she did. He has never felt like this about anyone else. This book was a fantastic read. I was eager to read it after the taste of it at the end of the first book. This book has a twist at the end that totally caught me by surprised. These characters are amazing. I can’t wait to read more books in this series. Jessica does a fantastic job creating these characters and their world.
