Body of Law Vol. I Release Day Blitz +Review

Body of Law, Volume 1 by Amanda Lance
RELEASE DAY BLITZ
December 4, 2014

This routine is killing me.

Day in and day out, it’s; the same thing: go to work, bed a whore, get a criminal off on a technicality— pretty standard for one of Chicago’s most established criminal defense attorneys. Yet I’m almost positive that if I don’t find something to get me out of this rut I’ll go as crazy as the murders I defend.

And when Violet Donovan walks in, the smart-mouthed intern who is anything but routine, I’m sure those pouty lips and fuck-me eyes are just what I need to get my cock and love for the law twitching again.

Too bad she also happens to be the daughter of the man who once tried to mentor me.

Too bad she’s completely off limits.

My Review

Violet Donovan has a summer internship and a criminal law firm.  Her father was a lawyer and then a teacher.  He believed that you could do good as a lawyer.  By taking an internship at a firm that got criminals off didn't sit well with her all the time and she worried that she was some how letting her father down.  On her first day she meets her mentor.  His name is Sebastian Scott, he was one of her father's student long ago.  She had a silly childhood crush on him then.  Seems that she still has an attraction to him.  What she doesn't realize right away is the Sebastian is just as attracted to her.  But, to him she is totally off limits.  Never shit where you eat is his motto.  Will he be able to stay away from Violet?  He intentionally calls her the wrong name, tells her to hand write briefs and then just throws them away just to make her mad.  He never gives her any real advice to help her as a lawyer.  Violet has never been so happy to have a day off as the Saturday after her first week as an intern.  She tries sleeping the day away but gets a phone call from Sebastian instead.  When she meets him, he tells her he is taking her shopping because if she is going to been seen with him that she was going to dress appropriately.  This could be the thing that causes Sebastian to lose what little control he feels around her.  He knows spending more time with her will only make him like her more but he can't seem to help himself.  Will Sebastian be able to keep from acting inappropriately with Violet?  Will they be able to maintain a profession distance?

I enjoyed this book.  Sebastian acts like her doesn't remember Violet at all.  When really he does and wonders why he feels so differently about her than he does the other women he normal encounters?  Violets wishes that he would remember her and doesn't understand why she is so bothered that he doesn't.  Sebastian is attracted to Violet and at first is able to stay away until he takes her shopping.  Then when he comes to work on Monday he realizes he looks forward to seeing her.  When he gets there he sees his co-worker Morgan flirting with her and becomes angry.  I think Sebastian and Violet would be a good couple.  She wouldn't take his crap and he would open her up to different and new experiences.  I look forward to reading the rest of this series.  Definitely on my TBR list.
