This is Vanessa’s new standalone book. Raquel is at a turning point in her life. She is getting divorced and being forced to sell her perfume shop unless she can find a way to pay her ex-husband the money, he put in to open the shop. Then the perfume she has been working on for years is stolen. She finds out that a big perfume company may have her stolen perfume. Did they steal it themselves or did they just buy the stolen formula? Astor and his sister are the owners of the House of Beauregard perfume company. His sister has brought him a new perfume she says she come up with on her own. It just needs one more thing. When Raquel goes to Aster’s family home saying she has a meeting with Penelope, Astor’s sister, he knows something is up. He thinks she is a corporate spy and offers her a job to keep an eye on her. But nothing is as it seems. At first, they don’t trust each other. Will Raquel figure out who stole her formula, was is Astor and his sister or someone else? Will Astor figure out where this new formula came from? I really liked this book. It took a bit for me to get into but once I did it was great. Both Astor and Raquel are great characters. They both have been through lots of tough times. Neither of them had an easy childhood. Turns out adulthood isn’t doing them any favors either. This book is a bit angsty and emotional at times. I love all of Vanessa’s books and this one is no different. I recommend this read for sure. I was taken a bit when the thief is revealed. The person I thought did it. Did have a hand in it but wasn’t the thief. I look forward to more books by Vanessa.
