This book is book sixteen in the series. They can be read as standalone books. Each book has a real crime summary in the beginning. Then that crime is woven in the story somehow. Artistic license is involved of course. The characters in this book are Michael recently promoted to Chief deputy of his office and Samara a new hire to Michael’s office. Samara is going to be the detective for the office. Samara has been through something horrible. This is where the story for the book gets interesting. Samara and Michael have an instant connection. The sheriff is okay with them dating and they are great together. But the real interesting thing is what happened to Samara and how it is connected to a string of rapes in the area. These women won’t say who did this to them. Then Samara begins connecting the dots. The man responsible is far more dangerous than they thought. He is also connected to Samara’s first case for the office. This man is connected to so much but they must be careful taking him down. They will need lots of proof and be sure that he isn’t tipped off. This was a great read. A great balance between the case and the developing romance of the characters. I couldn’t but this book down once I started it. I love Deanndra’s books. She is one of my favorite authors. I have read several books in this series and look forward to reading the others in the series. Great job Deannadra. I look forward to reading your next book.
