This book is a standalone read. I feel like it could be connected to other books though and I just don't know. Alexander is ambushed by his family. His mother and father are going away on a mission trip and have hired a nanny to help him in their absence. How ever Alexander doesn't want a nanny and feels like he can do it all on his own. Spoiler he can't. He really wants to but there is just so much to do with his boys and the family ranch, there isn't enough time in the day. Phoebe had no clue that she was being hired without the father's knowledge or more that he didn't want a nanny. But she needs this job and this time away. Things are on the rocks with her long time boyfriend. I secretly think that she knows things are done but doesn't know how to move forward without him. Alexander and Phoebe find each other attractive but neither are looking for that right now. But how long will they be able to fight what they feels for each other? Will Phoebe be moving from one bad relationship to another or do they have a chance of a future together. Alexander still grieves his late wife, who died many years ago. He is interested in Phoebe but his boys need to come first. He needs to figure out how to mess his wants/needs with taking care of his boys. This book was a fantastic read. The book is longer than the books I typically read but I enjoyed it so much and it didn't feel like it dragged on. I could hardly believe the book is as long as it is because it doesn't feel like it at all. I loved the characters and hope to read more about them. Fantastic job Maggie.
