This is the second book in the series. I haven’t read the
first and wasn’t confused at all. This is also the first book by Maggie that I
have read. This book is an angsty, second chance romance, with danger. Cara and
Gianni have been together off and on since they were in high school. Every time
they start to get to a good place Gianni gets freaked out and runs. Then Cara
takes him back. Except for the last time. She is tired of getting hurt over and
over. Gianni is finally in a place where he doesn’t want to run anymore but
Cara doesn’t want to give him another chance. Then Cara finds herself in a
horrible situation and Gianni makes his move. Now he just needs to prove to her
that he has changed. She will let him have her body easily but he needs to get
her heart and mind as well. Will he be able to prove that its different this
time? I felt for Cara so much heart ache. How many times is too many to let
someone back in? Gianni is possessive and dangerous. But he loves Cara he just doesn’t
know how to be venerable or “weak” with Cara. This book was a wonderful read. I
look forward to reading more books in this series as well as more by Maggie.
