I grab her hand and press a kiss onto the top, which immediately grabs her attention … and makes the air lock in her throat.
“You think you know me, but you don’t,” I say as I look up at her from underneath my eyelashes.
“I know you hate me as much as I hate you,” she responds.
“I never said I hated you …” I reply, leaning over the tub so she can’t look away. “I hate what you’ve done to me. What you make me do.” I grab her face and inch closer and closer. “How greedy you make me.”
Her lips are wet, the steam rising from the bath drawing smoke between us. But nothing can keep me away from her.
Nothing.
Not even my own damn stone-cold heart.
“I want to hate you,” I murmur so close to her lips I can almost taste them. “So badly …”
“Hate is all you’ve ever shown me,” she murmurs back, her eyes completely transfixed on mine.
“If I hadn’t, there would’ve been nothing left of you.”
She sucks in a breath, her body freezing in the hot bath, her nipples growing taut as I hover so close to her face I can feel every one of her twitches just from the vibrations in the air.

This can be read as a stand-alone book. However, the is another book that helps introduce this book called The Wedding Debt. Luca will get what he wants one way or another. Jill won’t let her sister pay for her sins; she won’t let her be forced into marrying that boy. Jill isn’t prepared for what is about to happen though. Luca and Jill have always had a contentious relationship. Luca has always wanted her and she has always hated him. But things could have been so much easier if he would have just shown her the real way, he felt about her. It is going to take a lot to change their relationship easier. Luca does seem to stand in her own way with her. He wants her to want him but he doesn’t show her he wants her for more than revenge. So much is going on behind others backs. I was torn with this book. I was reading the story develop and was addicted to it. But at the same time, I hate bullying and the way he treated Jill. Jill is torn between how she feels about Luca and how he makes her body feel. It is like her body is betraying her. Clarissa writes fantastic books with amazing characters. She did not disappoint with this book. She is a must-read author for me. Fantastic job another amazing book Clarissa.
