One of his clients owes money he can't pay. So he offers his niece as payment. When Killian declines he knows that he must protect the girl at all costs. Things get even more interesting when Killian sees the girl for the first time. He knows she is meant to be his. Zoey knows that her uncles never wanted her. That him and her cousin just use her. She is so close to being free then she is taken by Killian. He is telling her all kinds of crazy things about her uncle. She is so confused and how she feels for Killian isn't helping. She has a chance to escape and does but is it the best decision? Could she wind up in a worse place than before. Killian was nice to her and didn't mistreat her. This book was a fantastic read. I love Killian so much. Zoey may be younger than him by a far amount but he doesn't want to stifle her. He wants to give her everything she never had and everything she could ever want. I can't say enough about this book. Wonderful job Annelise.

I spend my days working, my evenings with my two beautiful kids, and my nights are when the characters in my head are given free rein. The tagline for Phoenix Bar, "Beauty After the Burn," holds special meaning for me and really helped to give birth to the story. Like Phoenix, I've had to rebuild my life from the ashes. It's been a long journey with a roller coaster of emotions and stresses, but I can honestly say where my life is now is more beautiful than where it was. I am fulfilling my lifelong dream of being an author.

 This is the second book in this series. I haven't read the first as wasn't confused at all. It was clear that parts of the book continued on from the first book though. Molly hasn't had an easy life thanks to her father. But, she has been turning things around. Now once again thanks to her father she finds herself in an interesting situation. Ashton needs to find out who killed two people close to him. To do that he needs Molly to do something for him. But, getting close to her could change everything for him. Molly and Ashton have always had a connection. There is more to it than Molly knew though. Now the two find themselves being pulled closer and closer together. How long will they be able to fight the connection they feel? Will Molly survive? At every turn she finds herself face to face with a gun. Something is going on and Ashton needs to figure it out. This book was a fantastic read. I have added the first one to my TBR list and I can't wait for the next book in the series. Tijan is a fantastic author and I always love her books. Congrats on another fantastic read.
