This is the fourth book in the series. They can be read as standalone
books though. I haven’t read any of the other books and wasn’t confused.
Amethyst and her sisters went through something horrible. Some worse than
others but all horrible. Her sisters have found a way to process what happened
to them and move forward. They have lives and families now. In some ways Amethyst
is still stuck back there. She thinks that she has processed and moved forward
but has she. Or did she just stick it in a box and ignore it? She and Zeb have
a mutual attraction but haven’t acted on it. Zeb because he wants something
more than a one-night stand or a short fling. Amethyst has no interest in any
thing more than a night of sex or a short fling. Then they are tossed together
to help find a pyromaniac who is setting fires to swimming pools with people
still in them around town. This brings up things for both of them. Not all of
it having to do with each other. Zeb has been through somethings as well.
Amethyst will be forced to continue living the way she has been or find a way
to truly process what she has been through and decide if she wants something else.
Something involving Zeb. I enjoyed this book a lot. The book doesn’t talk a
whole lot about what Amethyst went through in detail. Just a bit at the beginning
for context and then brief mentions during the book that it had happened to her
and her sisters. I liked the mystery and the romance between Zeb and
Amethyst. Her sisters don’t have a huge
part in the book but they are always there for each other. Zeb and Amethyst have
a steamy and interesting romance. This is an interesting series. I have added
the other books to my TBR list. Good job Jane.
