He was all business until he fell head over tool belt for the sexy, single mom.
I’m not bitter that Savannah St. James rejected me in high school. It's her cluttered storefront I have a problem with. Still, it’s hard to stay mad at her when she’s more beautiful than I remember and her son keeps finding new ways to sneak over to my hardware store every chance he gets.
While I admit he needs a male figure in his life, I’m the wrong guy for the job. Despite my reluctance, the little guy brings us together even as our pasts keep us apart. I’m falling deeper for this woman, and the more I get to know Savannah, the more I realize I misjudged her.
What if I’ve been wrong this whole time? Can we find a second chance after a rocky beginning?

This is the first book by Lea I have read. Ethan has come
home to help support his mother and sister. He bought a building and is opening
a tool store. He never imagined he would run into Savannah so soon but he does.
Turns out those feelings he had for in high school never went away. But things are
complicated. She is the tenant in the apartment above the stores and her and
her mother run the other store in the building he bought. Plus, she has a son.
He was raised by a single mother and some idea of what she is going through and
what it is like for her son. He must weigh his feelings for her against taking
care of his family. I really enjoyed this book. It is a bit angsty. There is an
instant attraction between the two but they do fight it. I wasn’t crazy about
how much her turning him down for a date when he asked her still played a part
in how he treated her now. He was a senior and she was two years ahead of him
heading into her junior year in college. He lets it go some as he learns more
about her in the present. But I just think it is weird that he is still so hung
up on it. I think it stems from other issues he has. Savannah’s focus is her
son and how she can take care of him. She hasn’t really dated much since he was
born. She worries about bringing people into his life who will leave him. The
characters in this book are great. I look forward to reading more about them in
future books. Great job Lea. Lea created a great world her. I look forward to
reading more of her books in the future.
