Synopsis
Lily and the Duke
Sex and the Season One
Wiltshire, England 1845
Lady Lily Jameson is thrilled to attend a house party given by Daniel Farnsworth, the Duke of  Lybrook, but not because he’s the most eligible bachelor in the peerage. Her only interest is his famous art collection, which reputedly includes a painting by her favorite artist, Jan Vermeer.
Daniel, duke only by virtue of the untimely deaths of his father and older brother, wants nothing to do with his new duties. He’d rather continue his rakish ways. When he finds the lovely Lily sneaking  around the property in search of his art collection, sparks fly.
Despite her father’s wishes, Lily has no intention of marrying. She wants to travel the world to gain real life inspiration for her painting and writing. And what could be better worldly experience than a passionate affair with the notorious Duke of Lybrook?
But circumstances may change the game and the players…and danger lurks, as well.

 My Review

I loved this story as soon as I began reading it.  Lily wanted to live this carefree life where she got to paint, write, and do whatever she wanted without having to be married and do whatever he wanted to do or the responsibilities that came with being a wife.  Her family and her attend the house party of the most eligible bachelor in her peerage.  Everyone wants to snag him but Lily could care less about that.  She just wants to see his art collection.  So she hatches a plan to do just that.  After she has her plan set in motion she sneaks outside and starts to go around the house to in the front door and start her search.  She is near the front of the house when someone grabs her and starts kissing her.  At first she does nothing then she starts kissing the person back.  She has no clue who the person is.  Out of the corner of her eye she sees a shadowy figure and the knows she needs to stop.  She flees to the ladies room to calm down and fix herself.  Once in their runs into Lady Amelia Gregory.  Lady Amelia immediately lets he know that the Duke mad a mistake and confused Lady Lily for her.  Lily could careless once again.  It was fun but she doesn't want a husband.  The Duke wants Lily after just that one kiss.  He known for sleeping with many women and doing as he pleases.  But he is trying to change only Lily doesn't know that.  This begins their adventure.

This book was fantastic.  It was steamy, funny, romantic, and just about any other emotion you can think of through out the book.  Lily had this idea about what marriage would be like and what finding a husband would be like.  The Duke took her by complete surprise.  Even when she started to have real feelings for him she pushed them aside thinking he was one way when he was another.  The Duke was completely taken with Lily after just one kiss.  He knew he would need to be someone different to be with Lily at first that scared him.  He was confused by his feelings toward her and he had never felt like that for anyone else before.  He knows that he wants her he just doesn't always go about it the right way.  The characters in this book were great.  The story pulled me in and I couldn't stop reading waiting to see what would happen next.  I loved that their story wasn't the normal romance.  They found something great in something that started out just for fun.  In a time where ladies don't do things like that and would be ruined if anyone found out.  I will be looking for other books by this author.
