This is the second book in this series and they must be read
in order. This book begins in present
day and then goes onto to what happened when Edward was given the quest till
Mara finds him the dungeon while visiting the Muir court with the queen and
Liza. This story was so emotional. Reading about how close Edward was to coming
back only to be taken to the dungeon in the Muir Court. Mara never stopped loving him. They both had these horrible visions. Gareth and Phillip kept telling her they were
nightmares and then finally made her believe that he was dead and was never
coming back. The characters and story
are fantastic. Mara and Edward have a
special kind of love. While it is rife
with sadness and road blocks they never stop loving each other. Mara is a wonderfully strong woman. Most of her life has been filled with lose;
first her parents then Edward. Edward
would have given anything to not have to leave Mara but he is so honorable and
knew he had to follow the Queen’s orders even though they were given out of
spite and not necessity. Gareth and the
other members of the Guard tried to be there for Mara but it just wasn’t the
same for her. I can’t wait to read the next book Blood
Rose. This story is wonderfully complex. I was completely pulled in by the story. KL Bone is a fantastic author. The story has romance, mystery, and a
paranormal aspect to it. I can’t
recommend this book enough. I like that
this book went back and filled in what was such a large part of Mara and Edward’s
story before going forward.
