I was so excited to read this book and it didn’t disappoint.
I love all of Esther’s books and this one was no different. I have been waiting
for this story for a while. Ricca was told by the syndicate that he was to
marry Chiara after he had her kidnapped for leverage against her father. They
wanted it all cover up and clean. Now they are married and must decide if they
want to try to make a life together or not. Chiara is a wonderful character.
She has been through so much at the hands of her father and worries that Ricca
will be the same way. Ricca wanted Chiara from the moment he saw her. While
this may not have been the way he would have wanted to do this, he isn’t
necessarily upset to married to her. They try to trust each other and get to
know each other. Ricca quickly learns that Chiara brings out all kinds of
protective instincts in him. He wishes he could bring her father back to life
and kill him all over again but slowly this time. Chiara has many triggers and
must find a way to trust Ricca or at least be able to let him prove that he
isn’t like her father. Sure, he is a mafia man but that doesn’t mean he will be
different with her than he is with his men. I just can’t say enough about this
book and how much I love it. It is a must read for sure. I can’t wait for the
next book by Esther.
