I live in upstate New York with my very own alpha-male and a
loveable Labrador who thinks he's the fourth child! Proud mom of an Army ROTC
cadet, a soon to be college freshman and a teenage daughter who's involved in
everything, there's never a dull moment in our busy household.
I'm a firm believer in love at first sight, second chances and
creating your own destiny. Isn't that what romance is all about? Being a
hopeless romantic helps me write my touching, emotional and heartfelt romances.
I also write Gossip Girl fan-fiction under the name Kyra Steele.
You can find Kyra through Amazon's Kindle Worlds.
When I'm not writing, I enjoy a good glass of wine and getting
lost in a book. I also love cross-country skiing and ice-skating (although I
admit to not having done either in years!) hiking, anything crafty, and
competitive family game nights (scrabble of course)!

Chelsea had to admit she was nervous,
as moments later she sat behind the wheel of her fuel efficient hybrid still in
her sister’s driveway. This wasn’t a weekend getaway up north. She’d jumped in
without seriously thinking things through, which was so unlike her, but she
blamed it on the stress of grief and wanting to fulfill Val’s wishes. Common
sense told her she should have at least called the Hamilton’s to let them know
she was coming and why. Doubts about the move started to creep in.
What if they didn’t care? What if they
didn’t like the fact that Val and Nate hadn’t gotten married right away? During
the good days, between chemo treatments, she and Val had extensive talks about
the future, specifically Bella’s future. Val and Nate had planned to get
married once the cancer was under control. Their dream disintegrated after
Nate’s horrible accident at the farm. Val had been so weak and sick from her
treatment she couldn’t attend the funeral, and Chelsea hadn’t wanted to leave
her alone.
Bella fussed and wiggled from being
stuck in the confines of her car seat without movement, drawing Chelsea from
her memory. She quickly started the car and shushed her niece before turning on
the radio which seemed to soothe them both. Her condo had already been sublet
when she’d decided to move in with Val full time. There was nothing left in the
townhouse and the movers had long since gone. The only thing to do now was
continue with the plan or stay in a hotel and call the whole thing off. In her
heart Chelsea knew she couldn’t do that.
Bella had Hamilton listed as her last
name on the birth certificate. Chelsea had never met Nate. From conversations
with Val, she knew her sister and Nate had found something special with each
other. They were completely in love and wanted what was best for their
daughter, which was why Chelsea needed to find Max Hamilton right away …
whether he was happy about it or not.
