This is the third book in this series and they must be read in order. These books tear my heart to shreds but I can’t wait to read the next one. So much takes place during the book(s) that you can’t help but feel for the characters. They have been through so much. I normally don’t really like books that go back and forth in time, but it is done in such a way in these books that it doesn’t bug me the way it usually does. Maybe it’s because I am so wrapped up in the characters and their stories. This book is about a great love that never seems will get to happen even know it is happening. I know that probably doesn’t make sense. Edward and Mara are in love and they are the other halve to their immortal souls but it seems like they will never get a break; a chance to really get to enjoy that love. Things that were done in their pasts to each other and for each other continue to plague them. Things can’t be undone and they especially Mara are having a hard time working through that and forgiving their self. With each book at the end I feel like I finally know all of what happened in their past and then I start the next book and find out more. These books are incredible. K.L. Bone is a fantastic author. She creates a world in which you can’t help but get sucked in. The characters have such depth and you feel as if they are real. I love paranormal/supernatural whatever you want to call them. You are taken to a world where things that aren’t possible in ours is possible in theirs. I truly feel for Mara. Her life has been one of disappointment and hurt. The past has well and truly caught up to the present. All the characters are there for each other and even if they aren’t blood family they are family. I can’t say enough about this book or the others in this series or about K.L. Bone. I highly recommend reading this series.
