“Damn my father and damn this trip. He died and left his affairs in a mess for me to settle. If I return to my hometown, I know the inevitable will happen. I’ll run into Lauren Mitchell! I am a true romantic at heart and with a modern contemporary erotic twist to my romance novels, you had better fasten your seat belt, as the ride is always fun, exciting and fiery.
Living in Southern California, but a mid-westerner at heart, I find plenty of inspiration for my books in my own exciting life. I have always loved the arts and as a young girl, I took dance classes and spent the summers reading books from the local library. Fascinated with the written word and its power to guide the imagination, I started writing short stories and later took Creative Writing classes in college. I graduated from The University of Iowa with a B.A. in Journalism and an M.A. in Higher Education. I also have a Teaching Credential from Chapman University in Southern California.
Aedyn Dell Cumberland left the small backwoods town he grew
up in to move to Chicago and make something of himself and he did. He owns his own management firm. Then he gets a letter from his aunt that his
dad has died. He almost doesn’t go
back. The man hasn’t meant anything to
him since his mom was diagnosed with cancer and he decided to drink instead of
being there for them. He does go back
though and winds up running into his high school crush Lauren. Lauren has been dating Chuck for the last
four years, although lately he has been acting differently. Lately he gets angry over the stupidest
things and his temper has been worse.
She is starting to get scared.
When she runs into Aedyn in the sandwich shop she feels like never
before. Just being around her makes her
feel like she has butterflies in her stomach.
She has never felt that way about Chuck.
Lauren in conflicted about her feelings for Aedyn. Chuck has slowly chipped away at her
confidence. She blames herself every
time they get in an argument. She must
have done something wrong for Chuck to act the way he does towards her. Then Lauren in involved in a car accident and
Aedyn sees it happen. He calls 911 and
rides with her to the hospital. He was
supposed to leave and go back to Chicago but he couldn’t let her slip away
again. Then Chuck comes to the hospital
and proposes. Aedyn didn’t even know she
had a boyfriend. Lauren now has
everything she though she wanted but is it what she really wants. Reuniting with Aedyn has made her take a look
at her life. Does she really want to
marry Chuck and see if the abuse gets worse?
Should she take a chance on Aedyn?
It would turn her life upside down if she did.
I really liked this book.
Chuck is a total douche bag and is obviously hiding something. The way he treats her is horrible. I feel sorry for her but at the same time I
don’t. She needs to stand up for
herself. She blames herself every time
he has an outburst even though she didn’t really do anything wrong. Aedyn is worried about getting hurt
again. He though he was over
everything. But, just seeing Lauren
brings all the feelings back. He is
going to fight for her this time. He
knows he can give her the life she deserves if she will just leave Chuck and
give him a chance. This book was a
little hard for me cause of the abuse.
It makes me really angry when the women blame themselves instead of the
men who have the real problem. I have
Lauren can get away from Chuck even if she doesn’t get with Aedyn. I think she should give Aedyn a chance
though. I can’t wait to read the next
book in this series.
