The world suffered a drastic change when the power went out on the heels of a viral outbreak twelve years ago. The population was decimated and lives changed in the blink of an eye. Tamar went from a bounty hunter in training to a woman who uses her skill to survive. When she hears of a bounty that may finally give her and her team security, she knows there’s no way she’s letting this bounty slip through her fingers—not even when another team gets in her way.
Kage and his brothers have their eye on one thing—revenge for their brother, tortured and murdered. When the man responsible offers up a bounty, Kage knows this is their chance, even if he’s forced to work with another team. Falling for a woman like Tamar wasn’t in his plans, but there’s no turning away from her now.
Tamar and Kage must fight together for a future. The choice of being selfish or the ability to see the bigger picture for the sake of the world and its existence might blur lines of friendship and trust. Will they be able to make the right choice, for the world and each other? Or will revenge take a turn for the worse?

This is the first book in this series. I love all of Esther’s books so I was excited to read this book she co-wrote with Cali and I wasn’t disappointed. The characters in this book are fantastic. I love Kage. Tamar and her sister and so funny and spunky. They don’t need men to take care of them but that doesn’t mean they don’t appreciate a good looking helpful man when he comes along. This was a great way to start this new series. I can’t wait to see where it goes next. This book takes place in the future where everything is different. There is no electricity and if you want to survive you need to work as a team. Tamar has a team with her sister and two other guys. Kage has a team with his brothers. Both teams are bounty hunters looking for the same bounty. Maybe working as one big team is best. After all they aren’t they only bounty hunters looking for this bounty. Safety in numbers. Maybe everything isn’t as simple as they have been told. There could be more to the story. I can’t say enough about this book. It is a must read as all of Esther’s books are. I look forward to reading more books by Cali after reading this book. Congrats on a fantastic book ladies.
