This is the eighth book in this series but they can be read as standalone books. This is the only book in this series that I have read but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. I really enjoyed this book. It was a great read. This book was funny, romantic, and had some major emotional parts to it. Diana has lead a very sheltered life. Her father wants her to marry a Duke and has groomed her whole to do just that. Even though that may not be what she wants. When the Duke she is set to marry runs after the woman he has loved for years and years Diana is left to deal with the fall out. Although she isn’t left alone. Simon known as the Duke of Ruin in friends with Diana’s fiancé. Simon wants to help Diana is anyway she needs. Even if helping her can get in trouble once again. Simon and Diana become quite close over their journey. Will they find that they want to be more than friends over their journey? Simon is overridden with guilt over what happened to his wife and unborn child. Will he be able to make room in his heart for Diana? Would a marriage between them just be one of convenience to save Diana from her father? I really liked the characters in this book and look forward to reading the other books in this series. This book pulled me in and I didn’t want to put this book down. I felt for Diana. Her whole life was basically planned out from the moment she was born and what she wanted or how she felt didn’t matter at all. Her only chance of escape was to marry just like her father wanted and hope that her husband would be nicer to her than her father. I am excited to read other books by Darcy Burke in the future.
