This is the second book in this series and they are better
read in order. Each book focuses on a different team member and the woman they
love. Finn Bollinger thought that he would spend his life with Charlotte his
high school girlfriend. Then she married someone else. Now she has come back to
town. Her life hasn’t turned out the way she thought it would. She is doing
what she needs to do to survive. She has a master’s in education. She runs into
Finn again when she is waiting for a child she is supposed to help. Only to
find out that said child is Finn’s son. Finn says no. But as time goes by he
does what is best for his son. He is beginning to wonder what Charlotte is
hiding. Something is different about her. Somethings about her are the same.
But, still there is something she isn’t telling him and he wants to figure her
out all over again. Things go sideways on an undercover assignment the team has
taken. Charlotte could be the key to everything even if she doesn’t realize it.
The team may end up needing to rescue her. How will Finn deal with Charlotte
possibly being in danger? I was sucked into the book right from the beginning.
I read it all at once. No breaks. I had a book hanger over the next morning.
This series is amazing. I can’t wait to read the next book. These characters
jump off the page. You are pulling for them. These couples don’t have it easy.
There is danger, romance, and so much more. Janie is quickly becoming one of my
favorite authors.
