This is the second book in this series. They can be read as standalone books. I haven’t read the first one and wasn’t confused. Emma is recently single like breaks up with her boyfriend at the beginning of the book. Her life is up in air. The life she thought so would have with her boyfriend isn’t going to happen. Miles is a single father and a detective. The last thing he needs is a relationship to complicate his life further. He doesn’t have the time to give a woman like she deserves. When Miles finds himself in a pinch with his daughter Emma steps into help. So, they find themselves gravitating towards each other. Miles is willing to take a chance. He is falling in love with this woman and they haven’t even been on a date. Can he get Emma to agree to go on a date and see where things could go. Emma loves his daughter and Miles isn’t a bad guy but she is fresh from a relationship. Could he be the guy? Miles’ ex wife knows about Emma but when things begin to change from friendship to more, she begins to have issues. Will she try to force the two apart and make trouble with Emma? This book was a great read. It is on the sweet side. There is some spice but I would rate it on the low side of spice. Miles is working a tough case that takes a toll. Emma is there for him. She knows he can’t tell her everything but she is there for him emotionally. Emma’s best friend is the woman from the first book and she is also dating Miles’ relative. I really enjoyed this read. They fall quickly into a family unit. Miles daughter is a hoot. I have added the first book to my TBR list. I hope to read more about the other characters in this series. Great job Aurora.
