Sins Against the Sea Blog Tour +Review

Title: Sins Against the Sea
Author: Nina Mason
Genre: Paranormal Romance/Mythology
Heat Level: Moderately steamy
Format: Kindle and Paperback

“If the merfolk were real, imagine how they might feel about the way we humans treat the ocean. That was my premise for Sins Against the Sea, a story deeply steeped in the mythology and folklore of the Scottish isles.”
--Nina Mason, author

Cordelia Parker, an oil company spokeswoman, has never believed in magic, despite her late mother’s fanciful stories. Then, during an oil spill in Scotland’s mysterious Minch, her reality is shattered when she stumbles upon a merman in a hidden cave. Even more shocking, she feels the same soul-level connection to him she felt for the ocean before it claimed both her parents.

A fish out of water in his sexist culture, Cuan feels a powerful attraction to Cordelia, but, because she knows what he is, he is duty-bound to kill her. If humankind discovers the Blue Men of the Minch are real, they will destroy them the way they destroy the ocean, whose abundance belongs at once to all and none. Thus, the only way he can have a life with her is to prove she is more than she appears, trust her with his secrets, and give up his undersea world.

With so many obstacles to overcome, they will need a miracle to be together…or maybe just a splash of ancient island magic.

My Review

First off I have to say I love Nina Mason.  I have read several of her others books.  They are always well written and tell a fantastic story.  This one was no different.  This story is about Mermaid and all the mystical creatures from the sea.  Cuan is a mermain; he and his brother warriors protect Minch from those who do harm to the sea there.  They are known as the blue man.  Cordelia works for a company called Conch oil as a spokeswoman.  She has to come to Minch when a ship is run aground by Cuan and his brothers that causes an oil spill.  Cordelia has a fear of the ocean as both her parents were lost to it.  She fears one day the water will claim her as well.  Cordelia’s mother always told her stories of fanciful stories of the mystical kind.  She is about to learn how true some of those stories are.  Cordelia finds Cuan covered in oil in a cave.  Part of her tells her to run and the other half makes her stay and help him.  She feels an immense connection to Cuan right away.  She is a bit freaked out when she sees his tail however she can’t allow him to suffer the way he obviously is covered in the oil.  Cuan comes from a different culture.  The only time he is to have contact with women is during the spring mating season then back to the sea he goes.  In his culture they become blood brothers with one of their fellow mermen.  Cuan has always felt different and tries to hide who he really is and how he really feels.  After meeting Cordelia he can no longer deny how he truly feels.  Will they be able to overcome all their differences?  Cordelia works for Cuan enemy the oil company, she lives on land and he in the sea.  Will their differences be too much or will love prevail?  This book was a great read.  The story is very intriguing and different than other Mermaid story I have ever read.  Cordelia’s world is turned upside down by Cuan.  She is forced to look at her whole word differently.  Strangely enough she quickly adapts to all the new information she is given.  I recommend this book and Nina Mason to everyone.
