This book was great. I love J.L. Beck and this book didn't disappoint. Devon appears in the other two books in this series. You don't know much about Devon's past from the other books so it was great to get to finally read his story. Devon is haunted by his past and love he left behind. Devon didn't have a good childhood at all and he wanted to get away and be better. He thought by breaking up with Tegan she would go to college and find someone who deserved her. How wrong he was. Tegan was devastated by Devon leaving and now finds herself in a horrible situation. Devon is forced to take some time off from the FBI and right before he leaves he sees a case that is in his home town. He figures that by now Tegan has moved on to better things and he won't run into her. Boy was he wrong turns out the case leads right to Tegan and she is in the middle of it. He is forced to face all his feeling for Tegan while trying to do his job. Will he be able to do his job and get Tegan back. This book was packed with action. Devon and Tegan find themselves in the middle of something big. Devon is doing his best to protect her and get to the bottom of what is going on. Tegan is forced to face all her feelings for Devon and realizes she still feels the same way about him. Will they be able to have a second chance or will they stuck with their anger and hurt from the past. Tegan didn't have a stellar child hood either. She started going to school but then had to stop when her ex drug her into the middle of his mess and then took off. I loved the ending and how everything came together. Can't wait to see if any of these characters make an appearance in any future J.L. Beck books. I love all the characters in this series and would love to read more about them. Another great book J.L. Beck.
