My Review of Scorch (Delirious Vol.3) by Clarissa Wild

Scorch (Delirious, #3)Scorch by Clarissa Wild
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is Ashley’s story. We finally get to read how things turned out for her. She has been left in this mental institution and has horrible things happen to her because she didn’t forget like they wanted her too. She is determined to get out of there and get her revenge. She is going to kill everyone who had any part in what happened to her. This whole series has been dark and deranged but this book brings it to another level. There is a man named Sam who comes and visits her. He wants her to bend to his will, she refuses at first. He finds ways to make her do what he wants though; sometimes with the promise of helping, bringing her food, or by embarrassing her. She has already been so degraded just by what happened to her and then he does things that make it worse. He says that he cares for her and just wants to help her. Then there is Ace who winds up in the room next to Ace. They form a kind of bound. Ashley tells Ace all about her childhood and how she ended up there. Ace promises that if she gets out and Ashley doesn’t that she will avenge her. This book is full of twists and turns. Even Mr.X makes an appearance in the book. Clarissa is a fantastic author and I always look forward to reading her books. This has got to be one of my favorites by her. The books are always kinda dark but there is darkness out there. Just because they are dark doesn’t mean there is no love or romance. Even those who live in the darkness can love and be loved. I like how her books aren’t all sunshine and roses. The books still have happy ending to them in a way. Ashley is such a strong character. She had been through so much and most would have broken under the circumstances but not her. I love how Mr.X fit into the story. Ace would do anything it took to get revenge for Ashley. I felt at times that Sam used Ashley. He wanted her to do things with him and love him back. But the only times he was nice to her were to get her to do what he wanted. He didn’t do anything without it benefitting him in some way. To me anything Ashley felt for him was more of Stockholm syndrome than real feelings for him. I don’t want to give any spoilers for the book but the series is a must read for sure.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.
