SYNOPSIS

Katherine Klein has been warned: Stay far away from Lance Walton. After one night in the country, the quintessential city girl has the unwanted attention of the infamous country boy. For months, she’s been dodging his advances, but a moment of weakness changes everything.
Lance Walton felt immediately drawn to Katherine from the moment she knocked on his best friend’s door Christmas morning. Winning over this city girl is a mountain of a task for any country boy, but Lance is up to the challenge. He never expected the morning he left her naked at The Inn would be the last time he would see her.
In the aftermath of her bad decisions, Katherine returns to the city. Haunted by what they shared and all she lost, she vows to never return to the country. But the country finds her unexpectedly when Lance shows up in the most unlikely place. But does he have the country boy charm to break through the walls of her heart and outshine the big city competition?

EXCERPT

“Need a refill?”
Her eyes shot over to me. I smiled holding out another glass for her. She didn’t appear to be drunk by any means. Something told me that this girl could hold her liquor. Her hand reached out, taking the glass from my grip. When our fingers touched, I knew. I knew she couldn’t deny what was happening between us. There was something definitely happening between us; something that had never happened before … except for once. I turned my head and found my pregnant ex-girlfriend on the lap of my best friend a few tables down. My heart hurt, I could admit that. But seeing two people I truly loved being undeniably happy made it all worth it. I gave them hell and I wished I hadn’t, but things were right with the world now. I was happy enough for them.
            “Would you like to sit?”
Yep. Things were right with the world now.
I sat down next to Katherine in a wooden folding chair. The distance was too great, so I adjusted my chair, becoming almost flush with hers. I draped my arm around her and rested it on the back of the chair. I stared out over the dance floor and could feel her eyes question my arm around her. She would just have to get used to it. I planned on touching a lot more than just her shoulder.
“So, what has you all mopey?” I asked as I continued to watch Jordan and Tom’s first dance.
“I’m not mopey,” she shot back, proving that she was in fact mopey.
“Says the girl who already downed a bottle of champagne before the first dance is over.” I glanced at her, and her eyes fell on me. In that moment, I knew why she was upset. I looked at Jordan and Tom dancing and then back at Katherine. I squeezed her into a half-ass hug and said, “Think of it this way, beautiful. You didn’t lose a friend. You gained me.”
She laughed while elbowing me in the stomach, and said, “I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing.”
Katherine continued to laugh until she caught my eye. I leaned in close to her, slowly brushing my nose against her cheek until my lips reached her ear. The breath caught in her throat.
“I’ll prove to you how good it can be.”

GIVEAWAY

This is the third book in this series.  It is Lance and Katherine's story.  Lance has a rep for being a player and he has been happy to let people think that about himself that is until he meets Katherine.  Katherine comes as soon as she finds out that Jordan has been kidnapped.  She has heard all about Lance from Jordan.  She know that when she finally meet him that she would have to hold herself back.  However knowing it and doing it are two different things.  Lance knows from the moment he meets Katherine that he wants her to be his.  After Jordan saves herself and comes home Katherine goes back home.  She doesn't come back till its time for Jordan and Tom to get married.  Jordan isn't the only one having fun the wedding night.  Lance lets Katherine know that he wants her, Katherine isn't sure she should do it but knows she wants too so she does.  They have an amazing night together and in the morning Lance tells her that he doesn't want her to go back to the city.  She says she has too.  So Lance gets dressed and leaves.  She doesn't hear from him and figures she got played by the country boy.  After all she has heard all about him and still slept with him.  Then one day at work a year later her boss tells her they have a new associate at the firm she works for in the accounting department.  At the end of the day her boss introduces the new associate and it turns out to be Lance.  They are both stunned and a bit angry.  Lance is mad because out of the firm and accounting department he gets a job with the one woman who he wants forever who he thinks doesn't want him.  Katherine because she has spent the last year trying to get over him and when she thinks she finally might be able to he comes back into her life.  What are they going to do now?  Did Lance really never try to get in contact with her?  Will Lance get the second chance he wants?

I love this series and was so excited to finally get to read Lance's story.  Lance is cocky and sure of himself most of the time with the ladies.  He knows he hasn't always been the nicest guy or done the right thing with past women.  But he knew from the moment he saw Katherine that he wanted her and was going to prove how much to her.  Katherine isn't very confident.  He parents have money and she wanted to prove that she could be successful without help from her parents or their name.  Lance and Katherine have an instant connection.  They don't have any easy path though.  They go through lots of misunderstanding before they finally catch a break.  Lance is determined now that they are back in each other’s lives to take a second chance to show her how much he wants her.  She doesn't know it but he is in love with her.  They are both worried that the other will hurt them, Katherine more than Lance.  Katherine and Lance are great characters.  I love how all the characters from the previous books make appearances in this one as well.  The books are wonderfully written; they are engaging and pull you in.  Looking forward to more books in this series.  Great job Jaycee.
