This is the third book in this series. However I haven't read the first two books in this series and I wasn't confused at all. You miss exactly how Alexis and Martin meet but that is about all, they however to make reference to it a couple times throughout the book so you do find out how. I plan on going back and reading the first two books. Alexis is a damaged girl, she has been through some horrible things. Martin has been helping her recover as well as protect her. Martin understands some of what Alexis is feeling because he himself has been in a similar situation during his childhood. The things that have happened in Martin's past have made him feel as if he is broken, messed up, and not good enough for love. Together Alexis and Martin help each other heal and save each other. I really liked this book. Both Alexis and Martin have a past to move forward from and they help each other do that. Sometimes they don't even realize that what they are doing help the other. Alexis has a stalker of sorts who is determined to have her. He thinks that Martin is the only things keeping from them from being together. Will Martin be able to protect Alexis from this man? Martin has a habit of putting his foot in his mouth and getting in trouble with Alexis because of it. Alexis is attracted to Martin but doesn't know if he is just unattracted to her or if it is because of what she has been through. What she doesn't know is that Martin is very attracted to her but doesn't think he is good enough for, that he can't give her everything she deserves. There is danger, romance, and more in this book. I look forward to reading more books by Screaming Mimi.
